Extremosio™ consists of plurilamellar multivesicular liposomes loaded with trehalose, a natural disaccharide that safely activates autophagy. Skin autophagy is a naturally occurring detoxification process through which damaged cellular constituents are degraded and continuously renewed. Moreover, autophagy activation promotes melanosome degradation in keratinocytes.
Because aged human skin is characterized by a significant impairment of the autophagic flux, its activation by Extremosio™ promotes beautification through removal and replacement of damaged skin proteins. In addition, the clearing of melanosomes through autophagy promotes a homogeneous skin color distribution.
Trehalose is well known for its resurrection ability. It can be found in a wide variety of plants and animals that are able to withstand prolonged periods of desiccation, enabling their survival in the harshest environments. For further information on Trehalose, please see Trehalose 100. voir moins
