Kahlwax 2178 is obtained by hydrogenation of virgin castor oil. It consists mainly of glycerides of 12-hydroxystearic acid. It is a white, hard and high melting wax. It acts as a binder and viscosity enhancer for emulsions, pastes, and anhydrous systems. Due to its excellent pigment dispersing properties it is often used in sticks especially antiperspirants and pencil preparations.
