METAPLANT GRO plant from Peru, from the composite family, with herbaceous stem, alternate leaves, petiolate in the shape of a heart. Sunflower was introduced to Europe during the 16th century. The seeds of this plant are used for bruises, grazes, wounds, ulcers. Its leaves can be used for ailments of the heart, stomach, fevers. The Sunflower seed has an average yield of 47% of a clear oil, light golden yellow in color, with a mild and characteristic odor. Sunflower flower contains quercimerythrine, a considerable amount of choline and betaine, solantic acid. In the oil, linolein and olein predominate and smaller amounts of palmitin, stearin, arachine and lignocerin.
