ITAMID C/F

ITAMID C/F is a medium viscosity polyaminoamide resin which is used combined with liquid or solid epoxy resins to obtain room temperature hardening products. ITAMID C/F is used above all in the field of anticorrosion paints, protective coatings with high resistance to chemical agents in general and with excellent properties of toughness, flexibility and adhesion to the most different surfaces. ITAMID C/F, can be dissolved readily in organic solvents such as alcohol, aromatic hydrocarbons, glycol ethers and their mixtures. In solvent free systems, ITAMID C/F when used combined with liquid epoxy resins gives rise to products featuring high adhesion properties and which can be applied by spatula process or by spraying. When ITAMID C/F is used with an epoxy resin with an epoxy equivalent weight of around 190, the normal ratio used is 60 p.p. of epoxy to 40 p.p. of polyaminoamide. However, this ratio can be varied, even widely, whilst bearing in mind that a greater percentage of polyamine resin increases flexibility but reduces resistance to chemicals. In solvent systems ITAMID C/F is usually combined with a solid epoxy resin whose pot-life changes with the percentage of dryness and temperature in addition to the type of epoxy used. For example, a formulation at dryness 40% with an epoxy resin of epoxy weight equivalent 475 and a ratio of 75/25 epoxy to polyamine will exhibit a pot-life at room temperature of about two days.
