Desmophen® PL 817

Desmophen® PL 817 is a non-drying fatty acid-modified polyester resin that is ideally used as a co-reactant for polyisocyanates in the formulation of air-drying two-component coatings for industrial wood finishing. This product has a viscosity at 23°C of 10,000 ± 2,000 mPa·s, a non-volatile content (2g resin/2ml toluene/1h at 125°C, convection oven) of 75 ± 1, and an acid value (supply form) of 3.3 ± 0.2%.

Desmophen® PL 817 is suitable for combination with highly condensed resins in the formulation of primers with a high solids content. No significant deterioration in reactivity, sandability or chemical resistance is observed compared with formulations based solely on this type of binder. In top coat formulations, Desmophen® PL 817 yields films with good surface hardness and matting. Generally speaking, Desmophen® PL 817 has good compatibility with a large number of physically drying binders (e.g. nitrocellulose). However, compatibility tests should be carried out in each individual case.
