FD-NPZ é um ácido de Lewis e pode ser um bom catalisador para a maioria das reações como esterificação, transesterificação, reações de condensação e etc. Também pode ser usado como catalisador Ziegler-Natta na polimerização de PP e PE. Devido a sua alta reatividade, FD-NPZ pode reagir com grupo de resina aglutinante de baixa reatividade funcional, como –OH e –COOH no substrato e revestimento, a alta temperatura (> 350 °C) FDFD-NPZ decompõe-se para formar dióxido de zircônio (ZrO2) e forma uma camada fina em diferentes substratos (vidro, minerais, pigmentos, metal) e são melhoradas a dureza superficial e a atividade na superfície. As propriedades químicas do FD-NPZ é muito semelhante ao tetra-n-titanato de propilo, no entanto, o zirconato não causa o problema de amarelamento. veja menos
