O Aquaxtrem™ é uma fração ativa das raízes do ruibarbo ""Rheum rhaponticum L."", em um meio de propanediol vegetal e água. É padronizado no ingrediente ativo identificado no estudo sílico, raponticina, e assim como outros hidroxistilbenos totais da planta. A raponticina aumenta os níveis de resistência de filagrina e involucrina e coesão da estrato córnea, aprimoramento da função de barreira e recuperação da hidratação apropriada da pele. O Aquaxtrem™ contém um mecanismo de ação nas queratinocitas através da ativação de PPARγ para estimular os próprios mecanismos de hidratação da pele.
