This transparent yellow to brown liquid functions as a wetting and dispersing additive to prevent the sedimentation and flooding of pigments by preventing interfacial tension between the hydrophilic pigments, extenders, and the binder, and by stabilizing the pigments through electric charge repulsion forces. AFCONA – 5054 is widely compatible and finds application in primers, decorative paints, marine paints, and heavy-duty paints. view less

This transparent yellow to brownish liquid functions as an anionic wetting and dispersing additive to prevent the settling and flooding of pigments by preventing interfacial tension between the hydrophilic pigments, extenders, and the binder, and by stabilizing the pigments through electric charge repulsion forces. AFCONA – 5071 has anti-settling and anti-sagging properties and finds application in inorganic pigments and extenders in water-based coatings. view less

This product is composed of carboxylic acid groups on the principle polymer chain and polyethylene glycol ether side chains. The anionic charges on the principle chain absorb onto the inorganic pigments and provide steric stabilization due to the polyethylene glycol ether side chains. This mechanism is sometimes superior to the electrostatic stabilization of polyacrylic acid salts or copolymers of acrylic acid and maleic acid resulting in higher dispersion stability. view less
