Butrol® 334

Butrol® 334 is a corrosion inhibitor for flash rust control. It is compatible with a wide range of waterbased coatings, including acrylics, vinyl acrylics, and water-reducible alkyds. When used for in-can corrosion resistance in water-based coatings, Butrol® 334 is incorporated at levels of 0.2%–0.5%, based on the total weight of the coating. It will not migrate from the liquid coating into the head space of the containers. Thus, once the container is filled with the paint, it should be inverted to ensure that the paint comes into contact with all metal surfaces. When used in water-based coatings to control flash and early rusting, Butrol® 334 is effective at levels of 0.1%–1.0%, based on total formulation weight.
