BYK®-310

BYK®-310 is a solution of a polyester modified polydimethylsiloxane. This product is a heat resistant silicone additive, i.e., in contrast to conventional (polyether modified) silicones, it shows no thermal decomposition at temperatures between 150°C/302°F and 230°C/446°F. Thus, upon the recoating baking systems, no loss in adhesion and no surface defects occur. (Note: The aforementioned defects can be caused by the decomposition products of conventional silicones at temperatures above 150°C/302°F.) The effective substance of BYK-310 is listed in title 21 CFR (food and drugs) § 175.300, Indirect Food Additives, Adhesives and Components of Coatings. The usage level may not exceed 0,1% (delivery form based on total formulation) and the film thickness may not exceed 12 µm.

Company

BYK has an established history of innovation such as being the first additive manufacturer to begin using Controlled Polymerization Technology (CPT), launching the first rheology-modified wax emulsion, and being one of the first companies to use nanotechnology for improving Coatings properties. BYK invests approximately 7.5% of its earnings in R&D—three times more than the industry average.
