抗坏血酸四异棕榈酸酯VCIP为维C衍生物，在高温下很稳定，在油中有很好的溶解性。VCIP其具有优异的皮肤吸收性，在皮肤中分解成游离维C来实现生理机能。VCIP在日本被批准为类药物活性（3%浓度），在韩国也同样被注册为亮肤的功效成分（2%浓度）。VCIP可以抑制细胞内酪氨酸酶活性和黑色素的生成，减少UV所致的细胞DNA损伤，以防脂类过氧化和皮肤老化。
