Luhydran® S938T is an aqueous, self- and externally crosslinking dispersion of a copolymer of acrylates and methacrylates as well as styrene, containing hydroxyl groups. It is used for the formulation of furniture films, heat-curing coatings on metals and non-metals and for two-pack polyurethane finishes. Luhydran® S 938 T self-crosslinks at baking temperatures above 150 °C (302 F). No formaldehyde is released.
External crosslinking with urea- and melamine-formaldehyde resins can be brought about by the action of heat alone or – preferably – in combination with an acid catalyst. Curing with a polyisocyanate is possible at room temperature. Coatings made with Luhydran® S 938 T are hard, fast to light, resistant to blocking and hydrolysis and very resistant to household chemicals.
