It acts as a wetting and dispersing additive and makes it easy to incorporate pyrogenic fumed silica in the coating. It increases or stabilizes the thixotropic behavior. The settling of the pigments and fillers is prevented and outstanding anti-sagging properties are produced due to the rapid rebound in viscosity after shearing.
