Eastman Chemical One of the lower viscosity solution grades of cellulose acetate. The average ASTM viscosity of CA-398-3 is 3 seconds. Eastman Cellulose Acetate (CA-398-3) is supplied in the form of a fine, dry, free-flowing powder. It may be blended with appropriate solvents, plasticizers, and other modifying resins to formulate coatings for paper, glass, plastic, wire screen, and electrical wiring.

Eastman Chemical A cellulose ester with medium butyryl content and low viscosity. It was designed for use where low-application viscosities at relatively high solids levels is needed. It is soluble in a wide range of solvents and compatible with many other resins. It will also tolerate the use of solvent blends currently exempt from certain air pollution regulations. Eastman Chemical A cellulose ester with a higher butyryl level than Eastman CAB-381 type esters. Tough films with good resistance to marring and weathering are possible through combinations of cellulose acetate butyrate with thermoplastic acrylic resins. Eastman CAB-531-1 and CAB-381 esters are similar in hydroxyl content and solubility characteristics, both being soluble in a wide range of solvents.

EASTMAN CELLULOSE ACETATE BUTYRATE (CAB-553-0.4)

Product
Eastman Chemical Soluble in low molecular weight alcohols (methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, and n-propanol) as well as other common organic solvents. It has a high hydroxyl content (4.8 wt. %, average), which contributes to its alcohol solubility. The hydroxyl group is reactive and may be crosslinked with ureaformaldehydes, melamines, and polyisocyantes. Films of CAB-553-0.4 are colorless and have good ultraviolet stability, maintaining their low color over long periods of time.

Eastman Chemical A low-odor, free-flowing powder. It is especially adaptable for use in printing inks and clear overprint varnishes because of its wide solubility in ink solvents, compatibility with other resins used in printing inks, and high melting point. Films formed from Eastman CAP-482-0.5 have fast solvent release, excellent antiblocking properties, and grease resistance superior to that of other film-formers.

It is fast dissolving, has good water tolerance and resistance to souring, and is compatible with many ink resins and solvents. It has good resistance to discoloration from UV light and has good adhesion to plastics. It has a low viscosity (0.2 seconds) and has an approximate propionyl content of 42.5 wt%.

Eastman Chemical The premier coalescent for latex paints. It performs well in all types of latex paints, in a variety of weather conditions, and over substrates with different levels of porosity. Eastman Texanol ester alcohol provides the highest level of film integrity at low levels of coalescent, enhancing the performance properties of the paint including low temperature coalescence, touch-up, scrub resistance, washability, color development, thermal flexibility, and resistance to mudcracking.
